Michael Mhangami Champion!

Michael Mhangami won the AEGON 9U Grand Prix Masters national title in March. Mhangami came into the event ranked fourth on the Masters Leaderboard but he had won the opening Grand Prix of the season.

"I feel really excited. I've lost to him five times but I knew that if I could play my best I could beat him," said Michael reflecting on the final match, "the high point was definitely winning the last point."

Jack Petchey Award

Milton Gayle was awarded the Jack Petchey Leader Award on 19th December for his work over a number of years for the Club. 

Milton works with children afterschool and at local schools. One of the parents said that her son had found his lessons the best

part about school.  Other comments received in nominating him for the award were that he knows how to train others at all levels

and that he treats children and adults with respect and dignity. 

Congratulations and thanks to Milton and also to all our young Jack Petchey award winners for their hard work.

Barclays Spaces for Sport

Barclays sponsored the building of the two tennis courts and practice wall at the Lilian Baylis Old School.  To celebrate this

Pat Cash came done on 16th November.  This film (large file 8Mb) shows images of Barclays work and some of our young

Umran Ali in the USA

Umran our Head Coach is a recipient of the prestigious Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship and visited the US Open as well as assisting at the Harlem Junior Tennis and Education Program in New York before moving down

to visit community tennis programmes in Atlanta   He will also visit Spain and France next year..  Click here for details.
